Well, it's quite possible that it is undoable :D I saw some topics talking about the nvidia runtime library and able to see their Nvidia GPU with some manual copy of drivers but even that, i'm not able to see my gpu.

I'm wondering if we can install 918+ loader on hp microserv gen8

As already stated many times, you can't install DS918+ loader on gen8. CPU is too old.

Well, as my CPU does not have GPU integrated, i bought a nvidia card to have H/W transcoding on my JellyFin server.

So i'd really like that we can inject nvidia drivers in any way to get that H/W transcode working :)

Anyway TTG is working on getting a solution for extra modules. Until then, you should be able to load the modules after the installation is completed.

Well, you don't even know what CPU i have :) Maybe you are talking about the chipset and not the original CPU ?

Actually i'm on Xeon 1275 V2.

No matter the CPU you have, too old. play with words if you like. it does not change the fact DS918+ will never work on gen8.

No matter what CPU model you have as the chipset accepted by Gen8 is the Ivy Bridge model. However, DS918 boot is for Haswell.

I can confirm working DS3615xs_7.0.1-42214 as VM on ESXi 6.0, using bootloader compiled recently with @haydibe's great tool 0.7.3.

The VM configuration - latest virtual hardware available in ESXi 6.0, custom config - Guest OS Family = Other, Guest OS Version = Other (64-bit), 1 socket - 2 CPU, Memory 2048, Network Adapter E1000e, add 2 SATA controlleres, HDD1=bootloader-SATA 1:0, HDD2=OS-SATA0:0.

In VM BIOS changed boot order to HDD2. Bootloader - select SATA boot. Bootloader cmdline used / changed - syno_hdd_detect=1 DiskIdxMap=0 SataPortMap=12 SasIdxMap=0 HddHotplug=1

Thanks! Working like a charm. Now i have only 1 problem. I have to pass through to the VM 2 BroadCom NetExtreme NICs. Unfortunatelly the syno didnt recognise them. ) Maybe missing drivers i think. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Don't pass them through. Set up a vswitch in ESXi with the Broadcom NIC(s) as uplinks to your LAN and present e1000e adapters to the VM. They're supported in redpill/DSM7.x afaik

@WiteWulf Out of interest are you passing any additional Parameters for the onboard b120i sata controller

SataIdxMap , SataPortMap etc ?

Just going to try using the onboard controller in ACHI mode , as HBA support doesn't seem quite there yet .

Do we still need to pass SataIdxMap=0C00 to pass the USB boot to position 13 , etc ?

1)take your correct vid and pid file from the usb key

2)update your vid and pid in the config file or change it with osvmount

i think is better when you use the  .pat file from your redpilloader loader libary

Everytime when I think, there is nothing left to optimize on the toolchain builder someone commes around and finds something that makes sense to be added... Thus said, here is the v0.9 of the toolchain builder.

- added sha256  cheksum for kernel and toolkit-dev downloads in `global_config.json`. The item `"download_urls"` is renamed to `"downloads"` and has a new structure. Make sure to allign your custom <platform version> configurations to the new structure when copying them into the `global_config.json`
- check checksum of kernel or toolkit-dev when building the image and fail if checksums missmatch. Will not delete the corrupt file!
- added`"docker.custom_bind_mounts"` in `global_config.json` to add as many custom bind-mounts as you want, set `"docker.use_custom_bind_mounts":` to `"true"` enable the feature.
- fixed: only download kernel or toolkit-dev required to build the image (always downloaded both before, but only used either one of them when building the image)
- added simple precondition check to see if required tools are available

See README.md for usage.

Try this rd (7.0.1-42214), which also is the current version of redpill (v0.5-git-f3fcc22). It also makes use of Jumkey extra modules load patch and starts inetd for telnet to the system and troubleshooting in case you have e.g a disk map issue.

Also includes modules and dependencies for tg3, mptsas, mpt2sas, mpt3sas, hpsa and vmxnet3 although sas is not yet supported.

Thanks for the work, I have used it on my baremetal G8 microserver and I have been able to update everything, but the system reboots after about 20 minutes and reboots again, any ideas? Thank you
