JP76 Posted October 20, 2015 #1 Posted October 20, 2015 Hi. I've connected my WD Elements 3Tb disk to my N54L to copy some files to the NAS. System detects the disk but the file system type shows as unsupported, although it's formated in NTFS... My WD Passport 2TB works fine... Help? Thanks, JP
NeoID Posted October 21, 2015 #2 Posted October 21, 2015 That's because NTFS isn't supported. Use FAT32 or EXT3/4 instead.
JP76 Posted October 21, 2015 Author #3 Posted October 21, 2015 That's because NTFS isn't supported. Use FAT32 or EXT3/4 instead. Hi. If that's the case how come my 2TB HDD is detected (as it's also formatted using NTFS)? Is there a capacity related constraint when it comes to choose which file system to format the external HDD with) Thanks, JP
kATABATIC Posted October 22, 2015 #4 Posted October 22, 2015 portables often formatted in fat32 (mac/windows compatibility)?
liukuohao Posted October 22, 2015 #5 Posted October 22, 2015 I think it is mostly hardware limitation related problem, you need to dig in deeper and see what kind of hardware chip is it using, referring to the USB chip on your N54L motherboard I have hard disk enclosure which used a Jmicro chipset to run eSata or USB 2.0 that does not support hard disk that is over 2TB capacity Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
liukuohao Posted October 22, 2015 #6 Posted October 22, 2015 Or try install a Nec USB 3 chipset pic-e adapter and see will it solve your problem Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
