Did you check if synology assistant detect your system ? The cursor is blinking (and the screen flips from black to green) but nothing is found in Synology assistant. I ran debug as well and it stops at: [ 5.354485] system 00:06: [mem 0xfed12010-0xfed1201f] has been reserved The debug process seems to sop at that point. Quote

xpenfan Posted September 21, 2015 Author #30 Posted September 21, 2015 Just an edit on my debug run. The code runs with a black screen. Then it flips to green and stops at the following (adding a few more lines with the first being ".. could not be reserved") [ 5.348859] system 00:06: [mem 0xfed1c000-0xfed3ffff] could not be reserved [ 5.349002] system 00:06: [mem 0xfed45000-0xfed8bfff] has been reserved [ 5.349304] system 00:06: [mem 0xff000000-0xffffffff] has been reserved [ 5.349527] system 00:06: [mem 0xfee00000-0xfeefffff] has been reserved [ 5.349741] system 00:06: [mem 0xfed12000-0xfed1200f] has been reserved [ 5.354485] system 00:06: [mem 0xfed12010-0xfed1201f] has been reserved Quote
xpenfan Posted September 21, 2015 Author #31 Posted September 21, 2015 I just disabled a bunch of stuff in BIOS so now with Debug I get to the below before stopping: .........pci ........ can't assign to (size 0x20) .........pci ........ trying firmware assignment [io 0x0020-0x003f] So something is causing it to stop but I'm not sure what yet. After I aplied the NoModeEmu - Yes. It gets to the login prompt without any problem. Before the NoModeEMu it hanged at loading /zImage ... I should add that this is on a zotac board. Haven't tested the Gigabyte one but I can do that rather Quickly. Quote

Trantor Posted September 25, 2015 #36 Posted September 25, 2015 Just did some additional test on my asus a8n-e with these graphic cards : Quadro FX, 8600GT, 9800GT, HD5450. All cards boot ok up to the login prompt without doing anything. I don't think it's something about the graphic cards but maybe it's related to gigabytes mainboard. Gigabyte EP45-DS3 : vigao Gigabyte GA-X99-UD4 : xpenfan Gigabyte 965P-DS4 : zslibra Gigabyte Ga-965P-DS3 : mats92 Quote
mats42 Posted September 25, 2015 #37 Posted September 25, 2015 I should have an ATI card somewhere, Easy to test Quote
mats42 Posted September 26, 2015 #40 Posted September 26, 2015 And I changed the graphics adapter to an old radeon 7100. Now it boots with NoModeEmu Quote
BurningRanger Posted September 27, 2015 #41 Posted September 27, 2015 Same problem on HP microserver N40L. 5055 is fine, 5565 and 5592 arent. Any solution yet? Quote
gzubsc Posted December 3, 2015 #42 Posted December 3, 2015 Hey, I got an A8n-Sli Deluxe and nanoboot was working perfectly, but no way to boot with XPEenoboot. I tried the "nomodset" parameter with just a few more lines at boot and a green screen. I removed my brand new *crappy* MSI nvidia GEFORCE GT610 and tried with my old Nvidia 8800 GTS. XPEnoboot is now working flawlessly. Migration 5.0 to 5.2 in progress cheers Quote
Trantor Posted December 6, 2015 #43 Posted December 6, 2015 Try to remove vga=0x305 from GRUB commandline (syslinux.cfg) and check if you still get the blank screen Quote
Trantor Posted December 11, 2015 #44 Posted December 11, 2015 This issue is fixed in the dev version and the next release will included it. The nvidia framebuffer is causing this black/blank/hang screen. Quote
