Benoire Posted August 28, 2015 #7 Posted August 28, 2015 Looks like you might need to find the right module for the firmware/driver to load up... you could see if someone else has already compiled this in the drivers section and ask there?
Benoire Posted August 29, 2015 #8 Posted August 29, 2015 Ok so this issue is present on both my R410s and R310s that I have in my homelab. It does appear to be the Broadcom network driver not loading or being understood.
Benoire Posted August 29, 2015 #9 Posted August 29, 2015 So the obvious way to get around this is to run vSphere Hypervisor 6 (ESXi) and RDM the SAS controller; not ideal as its cumbersome and every time you add a drive you have to then drop in to the manager to assign the hard drive to the Xpenology VM.

The solution of virtualization is one I have used so far and is good advice, but now I want to switch to native installation . It found that the problem is the network card will try to post in the " Drivers requests"
Benoire Posted August 29, 2015 #11 Posted August 29, 2015 Yeah I've asked there too. Do you have access to a second NIC card? I was going to try my dual intel one but then realised it was PCI not PCIe as that might be the most suitable workaround, unless you need the PCIe slots for something else. From what I've read the NICs worked fine in 5.1 but have been lost from the boot image in 5.2.

beppescuba Posted September 2, 2015 Author #17 Posted September 2, 2015 I 've tried but it does not work because if you open the file : XPEnoboot_DS3615xs_5.2-5592.2.img find some files in between which there is zImage , which I think is the kernel , which I could not open in any way . Perhaps the firmware must be inserted in the file DSM_DS3615xs_5592.pat .
Benoire Posted September 2, 2015 #18 Posted September 2, 2015 Nope, the drivers are in the bootimage, otherwise you won't be able to install the PAT file as it won't have anyway to download / install it as you won't have an NIC available.
