I7920 Sata ports= 6 (port 5 always seen by DSM as esata, but can be used as a hot spare eathernet ports not recognized, had to add a intel pcix nic using it with 5 3 TB Samsung disks Everything seems to work except quick connect, avg read and right in a gig network is 110MB/s big files or small Plex works on 1080p transcoding to multiple clients w/o a hitch. djelusion Posted August 27, 2013 Share #53 Posted August 27, 2013 That's interesting, I thought I was going mad. Hp DC7900 does the reset bios thing as well, I thought the CMOS battery had died so replaced it..... Reset CMOS .... Problem still persis. The my HP EX490 doesn't seem to have this problem What is this OS doing at shutdown to cause this reset? . i spent all day trying to install this on the freaking ex490! How in the heck did you install?. i did this so far and ill tell you how far i get: 1) using disk imager i wrote this img to a usb drive 2) no drives connected to the ex490 it boots to usb and sees the dsm as 192.168.1.24 3) if any drive is connected to the ex490 it will not be accessible at all!!! 4) so it connects and informs me there is no hdd connected. 5) put in the drive and wait a few and then i can proceed to install. 6) select the pat file and add a password 7) after it does its thing and reboots tada nothing! 8) turns out it does not format the hdd. 9) i went as far as editing the file you mentiond to add 2 instead of 0. That didnt work. So im pretty much lost. seems like it doesnt want to boot with a blank drive or not and i cant get this thing to format.. is there any special way about going on and loading this on a ex490. sad part is the damn thing has no screen so i have no idea whats going on. I even took out the usb key when it said it was formatting..
stanza Posted August 27, 2013 Share #54 Posted August 27, 2013 Install usb stick into the bottom rear usb port install hdds boot off usb stick.... once you have got the synology assistant connected (eg can see the nas and it says it will wipe the hdd's) pull out the usb stick then go thru the installation, put in password etc. when it comes to the part where it looks like it's finished the upload of the pat file.......and the screen changes to the countdown from 500 seconds etc. turn off the ex490.... eg hold the power button in for 4 seconds or so. re insert your usb stick into the bottom rear port and power back on. wait.......wait....... then try and connect again. ....tho if you recon you have already gone thru the steps above.... just re image your usb stick once more.... as it probably got hosed during the installation process... as you might have removed it tooo late. (in which case dsm overwrote it....thinking it was a hdd) .

extenue Posted September 23, 2013 Share #56 Posted September 23, 2013 :'( i have my two ESX 5.1 installed with the version from the dedicated thread http://xpenology.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=558 based on odie82544's DS3612xs_3202-Repack images i tested successfully upgrade to this DS3612xs_4.2-3211_x64 version on a test VM with a 16 Go vmdk file , however unlike with the odie82544's DS3612xs_3202-Repack , my RDM disks are not seen :'( i tried all the possible controller (normally paravirtual is the good one) but my RDM disks are not seen , i thought i could finally upgrade to 3211 with that version but it miss something is anyone could run ESXi 5 with RDM disks with that version ? what can i attempt to make that happen ? Thanks, XT
stanza Posted December 23, 2013 Share #57 Posted December 23, 2013 Anyone else using this build with a Microserver? Seems to load fine, and once I do some config file editing I can get most things going great. Tho Once the monitor goes to blank... Doesn't seem I can wake it back up. Eg it's like it also puts the USB ports to sleep. Unplug replug keyboard ( 2 different ones ) doesn't come back up Tho inside dsm I can still see the usb boot stick. Hmmm FIXED Updated to 4.3 3810 all good now .
