test4321 Posted February 11, 2021 Share #1 Posted February 11, 2021 Did anybody try to migrate from Xpenology to Synology? I've got 1621+ in the mail and thinking of just plunking my hard drives from Xpenology right into DS1621+. I think it should be ok, I'm just thinking if I need to back up any type of configuration / Moments / Drive data just in case? Or should I just do a fresh install? 1 flyride Posted February 11, 2021 Share #2 Posted February 11, 2021 Migration install should work. You should back up everything before doing any type of migration.

0 test4321 Posted February 19, 2021 Author Share #4 Posted February 19, 2021 Migration went fine! No issues! Everything needs to get updated so you have to wait at least 30-40 minutes for startup. Now I have to figure out how to add my Brocade 1020 to DS1621+
0 Clarence D Harnden Posted May 10, 2021 Share #5 Posted May 10, 2021 Since Xpenology runs the actual version of DSM, Synology should be migrated in the same way as Synology. The special XPE Sauce is in a bootloader that resides on a USB flash drive (or other boot device).
