Zesty2016 Posted January 29, 2021 Share #1 Posted January 29, 2021 Hi Guys, I recently built an XPEnology NAS from an old PC four spare 1TB HDD’s. It’s working fine, has been for a few weeks now and I’m very happy with it. However, I noticed that the version of the DSM was DSM 5.2-5644 and it is suggesting that I can upgrade to 6.0-8754, is it safe to just do this or is there a special procedure that I should follow? IG-88 Posted January 29, 2021 Share #2 Posted January 29, 2021 (edited) in general will you need a new loader for new dsm major version, 6.0, 6.1, 6.2 if you are going to make new loader it will be jun's and the procedure is the same from 6.0 to 6.2 i'd suggest using a loader for dsm 6.2.3 but it might depend on your hardware if its ahci the no problem, other wise it depends https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/13333-tutorialreference-6x-loaders-and-platforms/ https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/7848-links-to-loaders/ https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/7973-tutorial-installmigrate-dsm-52-to-61x-juns-loader/ Edited January 29, 2021 by IG-
