Hi,

I updated my xpenology to DSM5.2 update2, so far so good.

When configing i tought it would be a good idea to maximise security.

So it began:

I started with https

disable admin en guest user

disable telnet

Next i implemented multi factor authentication, at this point it pointed out to set te mail settings. Hell, i will do this later.

Then i was thinking it would be nice to create a difficult password.

So i did, 24 charactars, all random.

But i forgot to note this down....

Now i'm locked out of my nas. :-|

Does anyone know a method to reset everything but to keep my data?

Added parameter for reset user password (e.g., if you want to reset password for user “admin”, you can manually add parameter “resetuser=admin”, the password will be empty after boot.)

It worked!

Now for part two of my stupidity.

It asks me for a 6 digit code (multifactor authentication)

But the mail settings are not configured....
