Using IDE + SATA drives as storage- how is R/W performance

Hi All,

This question is directed to those who are familiar with hard disk performance, in terms of read and write

speed.

As my subject concern, has anyone tried using ATA133 7200rpm IDE drives as storage, run together with

modern SATA3 hard drives, meaning DSM is running on SHR setup?

Is there any Read and Write performance drawback, when using IDE + SATA.....

compares to only SATA drives?

Thanks

another point is that IDE drivers may not be part of the boot image so drives attached to those ports may not show up in DSM, worth a test first?

IDE is limited to 133 MB/s transfer speed. So it should be fine for most non-ssd drives. As long as you don't blacklist IDE kernel module in isolinux, ide drivers should show up in DSM.
