Fan Control

Good Day,

 

I would like to know if there is an easy way to set the Fan Control of all the fans in a system via the OS or a MOD. If not i take it i need to do this all in the BIOS to get the fans to the correct speed that i want.

 

Right now the 4 fans are running full speed. I should state I have a Fan Hub with all 4 Fans connected to the Case Fan Header on the MB.

BIOS or internal script daemon are the likely plausible options.  Scripting will require the ability to control fans from the shell.  lm_sensors and other typical tools are not part of DSM and need to be added somehow.

 

Synology manages fans through a proprietary UART based interface so the native functionality isn't useful for physical fan control.  I suppose it would be possible to leverage their script logic and link into a typical hardware interface, but I have not seen anyone do this before.

Since they are spinning at 100% the only thing will be is to try and get a fan control so i can turn them down and up it seems....
