DBD73 Posted November 6, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted November 6, 2020 The proliant had it's own mac address's for both NIC's which it kept and differed from the first NAS. I did fail to mention that the original/first NAS was built from an old laptop. (Sorry about that). I am new to alot of this type of Modding/Hacking. I only ask for curiosity and/or Constructive Criticism, seeing as though i am learning. I had been working on this for about 5 days on/off. I finally chose a loader and .pat file that was closer to my CPU Family aka : Xeon (Xeon 5530 4core hyper = 8core ). It worked. I have a dl360 g6 (2x X5670 CPU (6core hyper = 12core)24core)(https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/47920/intel-xeon-processor-x5670-12m-cache-2-93-ghz-6-40-gt-s-intel-qpi.html) I am going to try on this as well. I will update as soon as i have attempted this. LOL For you who might be wondering...WHY! Well first and for most, Cause I CAN!! and some of the software that has grown on me and i use daily but my first NAS is slowing due to running PLEX with about 4TB thus far of movies and about 25 family members that stream it. Speed is Needed! Ok, ADHD, enough rambling on n on n on n on..... .. .. . . . Whew Side note: I only use the synoboot.img from this loader (https://xpenology.club/downloads/ (ds3617xs 6.1 Jun’s Mod V1.02a2)) Any other questions, ask away, cause im sure my ADHD will certainly go WAYYYYYY off track!! 😵😎
flyride Posted November 6, 2020 Share #5 Posted November 6, 2020 (edited) Not sure why you chose an obsolete loader and an arbitrarily old DSM version... but whatever works, I guess. If I were you I would at least go to 6.1.7 (build 15284) which should work with the loader you have chosen. However, you are underutilizing your CPU. Max threads are 16 on that DSM platform and you have 24 active threads. You need to turn off hyperthreading to maximize your CPU usage. DBD73 Posted November 7, 2020 Author Share #6 Posted November 7, 2020 I was gonna mess around with that this weekend when i get some time. Thanks for the info!! Yes, you are correct, i would be under utilizing my cpu on the 360, I will turn off hyperthreadin on that one. I was just given facts on that cpu. I really need to stop misleading people, LOL. Just a bit overexcited i guess. In the spirit of things, never thought i would get this far. Thanks again for all the input folks.
DBD73 Posted March 9, 2023 Author Share #7 Posted March 9, 2023 Update: Completely got away from Synology. Running Plexmediaserver on DL360 G6 through Ubuntu 18.04 no problems since this conversion. Updated my P410 smart array's and now running hardware raids. Good luck to everyone!
