drsassafras Posted November 6, 2020 Share #1 Posted November 6, 2020 (edited) I have this machine: 970 Extreme3 R2.0 Motherboard AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor 23GB of DDR3 Unbuffered ram running at 800 MT/s (4 sticks) Several HDD's (all SATA) Planning on purchasing a SSD for the OS. Would this work at all? Would I need to purchase another Motherboard and Processor? Any help to point me in the right direction would be useful. Thanks Edited November 6, 2020 by drsassafras

drsassafras Posted November 6, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted November 6, 2020 Fantastic. Is the 918+ the most desirable I take it? My processor only has 8 threads, so that is not a concern. In terms of compatibility here, if it does not work, will it just fail with a fatal error, or will it load with buggy software issues? The system readout gave me a number of 23GB. Perhaps it was rounding down, or was not including some overhead or something like that? drsassafras Posted November 6, 2020 Author Share #7 Posted November 6, 2020 So what I am hearing is that 918+ is the most desirable and if i am unable to install then it probably means a compatibility issue and I should fall back to 3615/17. You guys are great looking forward to getting this set up.
