wolverine75 Posted May 11, 2015 #1 Posted May 11, 2015 Hi , My setup has xpenology 5.1-5022.3 on Oracle VM box on top of Ubuntu 14.04 . Registered a host name under dyndns existing domains. I have logged into the ddns services on the ISP modem/router and xpenology as well . But I am unable to access the xpenology remotely using the hostname or the IP. nslookup gives the correct DNS servers IP for my ISP. Do I need to allow any specific port forwarding on my router(I have tried to forward some ports for the synology and open all with no luck). Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, WK
Faro Posted May 12, 2015 #2 Posted May 12, 2015 Check http://www.portchecktool.com to see if your ports are blocked by a firewall or ISP. I recently installed Xpenology and found out that I had to open port 8080 to get access from the internet. If you haven't done this you might want to try it. http://xpenology.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5861&start=10#p35869
jundar Posted May 12, 2015 #3 Posted May 12, 2015 By default you have to open at least port 5000 to get connection to DSM via HTTP. By default 22 port is needed to SSH (SFTP). If you have no access outside even ALL ports are opened, you should check once again your IP of XPEnology - maybe you opened ports to wrong IP.
wolverine75 Posted May 13, 2015 Author #4 Posted May 13, 2015 Faro thanks for the ideas. jundar, many thanks to you for the port number. I have used the webhop redirect in the dyndns to point the hostname to the x.x.x.x:5000 and port forwarding on the router for 5000 and it worked. Thanks WK
