p33ps Posted April 23, 2015 Share #1 Posted April 23, 2015 Hi, I'd like to know if exists the possibility to reduce the consumption for my 24/7 HP G8. I mean, I think it is using its total hardware and maybe it can be reduced to use the necessary resources only. Thanks a lot!
WiteWulf Posted April 24, 2015 Share #2 Posted April 24, 2015 See if you can find the howto for reducing CPU speed that was on xpenology.nl, I installed this on my HP Gen8 and it brings the clock speed down from 2.3GHz to 1.6GHz and will allow it to speed up again automatically on demand. You could also look into the HDD hibernation features (ie. spinning disks down when not in use) but I'm not sure how well this works on non-synology hardware. Rusty Posted April 27, 2015 Share #3 Posted April 27, 2015 I hear my discs spin up every so often, so I assume it works.
boosterbosch Posted April 27, 2015 Share #4 Posted April 27, 2015 You could use this tutorial: http://www.xpenology.nl/control-cpu-power-state/ this will make sure the CPU slows down when not required.
