8 Drives J5005

Hi

I have installed a Sata extension card. But i can't seem to get it to detect my drives connected to the new card. How ever it has detected the card

My drives on the internal 2 controllers are now called 1+2 and 7+8. But drives connected to the extra card doesn't show up.

I run "6.2.3-25426 Update 2"

I think i need to tinker with the sata_args? Is this a correct assumption?

It is currecntly set to "set sata_args='SataPortMap=4'"

that implies the new card is detected as port 3,4,5,6 (4 ports)

and also implies its a 4 port chip and one port is used with a multiplexer (not supported by dsm)

if you choose a random port out of 8 and its one of the 4 "dead" ports ... (4 out out the 8 should be working)

read this to understand it better

I will read what you linked to.. The card is a Marvell 88SE9215 4xSATA 3 which shouldn't be a multiplexed card.

How does it imply that one port is multiplexed and not 2ports? (I am aware multiplexed ports are not supported).

You say 4 out of 8 ports should be working (i have 4 disks attached to the motherboard) ? You have lost me here.

The 4 onboard are working. Are you implying here that if the card attached is multiplexed non of the "new" ports would work as i already have 4 working ports? If this is the case, it makes no sense to me. I would expect 2 of the new ports to work.

I'm sorry i didn't attach the make and model of the card in the first post. Do you need more info about my system?

I did a lsusb -v

and got this

0001:01:00.0 Class 0000: Device 1b4b:9215 (rev ff) (prog-if ff)
        !!! Unknown header type 7f

I can see this comes up as a Marvell, so i guess this could be my card. Does this mean no drives are loaded? But then again half my HDD's are shifted 4 ports, so it has detected something somewhere?
