vtrchan Posted March 24, 2015 Share #1 Posted March 24, 2015 One day, I brought a Buffalo TS-QVHL Terastation NAS from flea market. It costs $13 USD only. The specification of Terastation is quite good. CPU: Intel Atom D510 Dual-core 1.66 GHz RAM: 2GB Number of USB 3.0 Ports: 2 Number of Total Expansion Bays: 4 BL03.jpg[/attachment] Firmware: NASBUF2.zip
Kanedo Posted March 25, 2015 Share #2 Posted March 25, 2015 What's this NASBUF2.zip you attached? I see a Hex file inside. Mind sharing what this hex file is used for?
vtrchan Posted March 25, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted March 25, 2015 The Hex file is a firmware for the microprocessor of 89C2051. It needs an Universal Programmer to program the Hex file to microprocessor's internal EEPROM. The 89C2051 communicates with DSM through COM1 port. For examples, if RAID crash, DSM will send out a signal to COM1. After 89C2051 received this signal, the Err_LED will light on and a alert sound is generated. geekllem Posted March 13, 2016 Share #5 Posted March 13, 2016 Hello vtrchan, Do you have problems with the fans of your Buffalo Terastation? I have TS5800D and all the times the fans are running. Any idea?
dorustory Posted June 2, 2016 Share #6 Posted June 2, 2016 For geekllem, if not too late, not to make software changes in terastation I put a Cooler Master Hyper TX3 RR-910-HTX3-GP instead of the original.
dorustory Posted June 2, 2016 Share #7 Posted June 2, 2016 Sorry, the fan is a song with speed control via microswitch, I let terastation site on surveillance 24 hours and has not complained about the heat in a room with about 22 degrees.
