So I tested an Xpenology build with an old acer H340, and that worked mint, first time no issues,

I have now purchased much better hardware for a more permanent build, but after boot from USB, the find.synology.com isn't seeing my device.

can anyone help?

Asrock Z390, Intel 9th gen i3, 16gb ram, Fractal Node 304

Hi, usually the issue is the Ethernet.

I used to have this H370 board which has 2 Ethernet port. The Intel I219V Ethernet chip does not work (Synology does not have drivers for it) but the I211AT which is an "older" chip it works fine.

Check your board which Ethernet chip has and search the forum.

If that indeed is your issue you either buy a compatible Synology Ethernet card or run XPEnology as a VM.

OP, you may not fully understand the advice you were given.

  • Yes, your PID/VID needs to be correct, period.
  • You have two ethernet ports, one of them is not supported by the driverset unless you use IG-88's extra.lzma
  • The advice was to try the "other" ethernet port.  VID/PID won't change if you do that.  You don't technically have to edit the MAC either

Got ya.

But the PID and VID have got to be altered in the file or no show ?

I see.

My issue is that it isn’t being seen on the network when going to the find address.

Yes, and like I said I used to own the ASRock H370 which has those 2 chips and one does not work. Please try on the other port and report back. The I211AT should work fine if it does not work then maybe your issue is something else. My personal opinion is that it should work.
