Crazor Posted August 8, 2020 Share #1 Posted August 8, 2020 I'm trying to install DSM6.2.2/.3 on a TerraMaster F2-421. However, the kernel does not even seem to start (No output after "Screen will stop updating shortly"). I tried jun's v1.04b and v1.03b. I'm looking at the HDMI output and I only see grub and the mentioned message.
IG-88 Posted August 8, 2020 Share #2 Posted August 8, 2020 from the hardware it looks like it should boot with 1.04b ootb (1.03b depends on if its uefi or legacy bios, but 1.04b can handle both) https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/13333-tutorialreference-6x-loaders-and-platforms/ check both nic ports, check dhcp server for used address, use synology assistant program from synology to find it in network
Crazor Posted August 8, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted August 8, 2020 (edited) There's actually four ports on the back. I assumed that the mainboard would contain a switch, since those ports appear to be active with the NAS powered off but the power supply still connected... I re-checked with 1.04b and tried all four ports, but nothing. Or do I have to boot with the cable in each of the ports? Of course, I also checked the router every time. No lease... Crazor Posted August 8, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted August 8, 2020 Since you mentioned EFI, I went through the BIOS again and disabled the CSM et voilà, DiskStation found!
IG-88 Posted August 8, 2020 Share #5 Posted August 8, 2020 if you want to user the hardware transcoding you will have to replace the extra.lzma with 6.2.3 https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/28321-driver-extension-jun-103b104b-for-dsm623-for-918-3615xs-3617xs/ https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/24864-transcoding-without-a-valid-serial-number/
