jw1283675 Posted July 19, 2020 Share #1 Posted July 19, 2020 I have a connectx-2 which I am trying to enable for infiniband along side the rest of my IB network. Though I do have many IB / MLX modules running in xpenology (Copied below) I can't seem to enable ib_ipoib properly, and as such, cannot assign an IP to my IB device, and generally do not see ib0 as an active device (ls /sys/class/net). Out of desperation since a few days ago when I started, following other old threads in the forum, I managed to force a switch to eth mode from IB, which does create an eth1 device, but I can't otherwise get it to connect to the rest of the network (unmanaged IB switch, with opensm running on another machine.) As well, I am hopeful to keep the device in IB mode instead of Eth. I have read a half dozen forum threads on the topic from over the years. Many reference precompiled modules and other downloadable resources, but so far I have yet to find a link that wasn't broken. I have also found the rather long driver extension thread for 6.2.2, however, it does not mention infiniband in the 30 pages of posts (according to a search) so I am unsure that it would help. Xpenology doesn't appear to have the standard IB tools, and I am currently unclear as to how I would go about adding them. Can someone please point me in the right direction? IG-88 Posted July 26, 2020 Share #2 Posted July 26, 2020 dsm for 3617 comes with mlx4_ib.ko, mlx5_ib.ko so no need to add them to the extra.lzma
g4sho Posted December 15, 2021 Share #3 Posted December 15, 2021 What is missing is ib_ipoib. I have the .ko from 5.2 but nothing recent. This is if infiniband mode is what you seek, because it currently recognizes it in ethernet mode, but RDMA, does not work, even after enabling it in synoinfo.conf
