Arno_0071 Posted July 30, 2020 Share #2 Posted July 30, 2020 (edited) Hi gquiring, Thanks for showing how to install DSM on the N5550. I just installed DSM 6.2.3.25426 on my NAS. Have you managed to control the fan-speed? Because the thing is blowing at full speed. I have two N5550's and this way, they will produce a lot of noise.... Thanks, Arno Edited July 30, 2020 by Arno_0071
gquiring Posted July 30, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted July 30, 2020 I have my NAS's in the walk-in closet so the noise does not bother me. Loud fans is way better than TheCUS software!!!🤣
Bogey Posted July 30, 2020 Share #4 Posted July 30, 2020 I used this on my Thecus N7510:
gquiring Posted July 30, 2020 Author Share #5 Posted July 30, 2020 The only issue that I don't like about those fan mods are is how long is it going to last before a DSM update comes along and steps on the changes that were made?
Bogey Posted July 31, 2020 Share #6 Posted July 31, 2020 I’ll post the steps from the above thread that work for me. They’ve survived a couple of updates so far (also from 6.1 to 6.2).

Arno_0071 Posted July 31, 2020 Share #8 Posted July 31, 2020 Bogey, I'm definitely going to try your solution. Hopefully it will work with Thecus N5550 too. Thanks!

Nekely Posted December 22, 2020 Share #14 Posted December 22, 2020 It is already solved, I had a bad Ram memory module, now the screen no longer stays white and recognizes the disks. Bogey Posted March 25, 2021 Share #16 Posted March 25, 2021 (edited) the it87 is just there. I think the os just recognised it during boot. did you check any bios settings? Edited March 25, 2021 by Bogey

gquiring Posted April 3, 2021 Author Share #18 Posted April 3, 2021 A couple of updates. DSM 6.2.4.x does not work. I also updated one of my N5550's today with WD Red Plus 12TB drives. The hardware sees the drives. Only minor issue is the mounting screws don't line up with trays. You can secure each drive with two screws only.
