Access my NAS from outside

matt06

Question

Hi,

i hope i'm not doing a mistake putting my question here.

I'm running DSM 5.2-5644 Update 5 (and not really excited about doing updates). It's been years i'm using my NAS only as a PLEX server ( + movie storage).

I've never been able to access my NAS from outside my network (except when i go through PLEX website).

Is there an easy way to configure that? i tried a few years ago i think and it was a little complicated i think...

Thanks!

Mathieu

Be careful when opening your NAS to the internet. Things to do:

- enable DoS protection in DSM

- enable account blocking (block IP after X login failures within XX minutes)

- for your admin account enabling 2FA is also recommended

- use strong passwords for your user accounts

- redirect HTTP to HTTPS

- change the standard port for HTTPS (5001) to a higher, non-standard port (for example: 55001)
