Cryser7 Posted May 10, 2020 Share #1 Posted May 10, 2020 Hello, i have the following build: Mainboard: Asrock J3455 ITX Motherboard RAM: 4 GB RAM - 1 Slot used HDD: 10 TB WD White (from an External WD Case) Onboard NIC: Disabled in BIOS (not showing up in DSM 6.2.2). Current NIC: USB 3.0 to Ethernet NIC Chip: ASIX AX 88179 DSM Version: DSM 6.2.2-24922 Update 5 Loader: 1.04b - DS918 with "Driver extension jun 1.03b/1.04b for DSM6.2.2 for 3615xs / 3617xs / 918+" Unfortunately my USB 3.0 NIC is not working stable. So I would like to buy a good NIC PCIE Card. I am looking for an cheap option with native driver support? Is there any card which will work with my Build and DSM-Verison? IG-88 Posted May 10, 2020 Share #2 Posted May 10, 2020 https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/14127-guide-to-native-drivers-dsm-621-on-ds918/ usually J3455 boards have a realtek nic and they should work mostly ootb as native for 918+ as its the chip synology uses in the original 918+ i do have newer drivers in my extra/extra2 so i guess you should try to enable your onboard nic
Cryser7 Posted May 11, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted May 11, 2020 Thank you for the quick answer. I have the following network card built in: Realtek RTL8111GR I have now tried the June 1.04b Loader with DS918 but without the driver extension. For my surprise the USB to LAN Card is working now again. But can I use the built in Realtek Card? Then I would get rid of my USB to LAN Dongle
flyride Posted May 11, 2020 Share #4 Posted May 11, 2020 Try onboard NIC with no driver extension initially with the newest version 6.2.3.
