Brauche Hilfe beim SATA mapping - (Asus P9D-I + 9211-8i)

Moin, 

 

Ende letzten Jahres habe ich mir einen neuen NAS zusammengestellt. Die Hardware sieht wie folgt aus:

 

Mainboard:        Asus P9D-I REV 1.02 (SATA => 2x 6Gb/s blau, 2x 3Gb/s schwarz)
CPU:                    Intel Xeon E3-1220v3
HBA:                        LSI IBM SAS9220-8i (geflasht zu 9211-8i, IT-Mode, FW 19.00.00.00 )
RAM:                   2 x 8GB     Kingston PC3-12800 KVR16E11/8, UDIMM, EEC 
SSD:                         1 x 500GB            Kingston SA400S37480G
HDD:                       4 x 4TB                   Western Digital WD40EFRX-68N32N0
 

Das Ganze ist in einem 8-Bay Gehäuse verbaut. Als Bootloader verwende ich die Version 1.04b und als DS-Image das der DS918+ (DSM 6.2.2-24922 Update 4). 

Mein Ziel ist es zukünftig 8 HDDs über den HBA und zwei interne SSDs über die beiden blauen 6Gb/s Anschlüsse des MB (Motherboard) zu betreiben.

Dabei hätte ich gerne, dass die Slotbelegung im Speicher-Manager wie folgt aussieht:

Zurzeit sollte es dann so aussehen, da noch nicht alle Festplatten vorhanden sind:

Ich muss also etwas in der „grub.cfg“ und/oder „synoinfo.conf“ konfigurieren. Ich habe mir diesbezüglich unterschiedlichste Forenbeiträge aus diesem und auch anderen Foren durchgelesen. Ich habe immer wieder mögliche Konfigurationen ausprobiert, leider ohne großen Erfolg. 

Eine Änderung stelle ich nur bei der Anpassung der Parameter Maxdisks und internalportcfg (synoinfo.conf) fest.

Eine Anpassung der Parameter SataPortMap und DiskIdxMap (grub.cfg) bewirkten bis jetzt keine wahrnehmbaren Änderungen.

Die Slotbelegung im Speicher-Manager sieht immer wie folgt aus:

Je nachdem was ich bei Maxdisks angebe sehe ich am ende mehrere oder weniger freie Slots oder wenn ich internalportcfg ändere, kann ich einzelne Festplatten deaktivieren, was aber kein Aufrücken der Slot auf der rechten Seite zu Folge hat.

Zwischenzeitlich habe ich gedacht, was soll der Kleinkram, ich setze Maxdisk auf 14 und kann dann auch auf alle 8 HDDs über den HBA zugreifen. Gesagt getan… Nun ist es aber so, dass mein SH-Raid (4 HDDs) täglich abstürzt, ohne das Daten drauf vorhanden sind oder explizit Daten geschrieben oder gelesen werden. Testweise habe ich 2 HDDs am MB angeschlossen (SATA-Port schwarz) und 2 HDDs am HBA und dann zwei getrennte SH-Raid erstellt. Und sieh da, nach knapp 1 Tag war der SHR am HBA wieder abgestürzt. Der SHR am MB läuft nun schon einige Tage ohne abzustürzen. Die Slotbelegung sieht dabei übrigens wie folgt aus:

Die Slots 5 und 6 kann ich übrigens niemals belegen, da es sich dabei anscheint um zwei Port Handelt, die physisch nicht nach außen geführt sind. Das MB baut auf dem Chipsatz C222 auf, welcher 2x 6Gb/s und 4x 3Gb/s SATA unterstürzt. Das MB hat aber insgesamt nur 4 SATA-Ports (2x 6Gb/s blau, 2x 3Gb/s schwarz).

Bei dem Betrieb am HBA ist mir aufgefallen, dass nach einem Neustart die HDDs in unterschiedlicher Reihenfolge angezeigt werden, als ich sie installiert habe. Also die Laufwerke 7-10 wechseln ihre Festplatten. Das habe ich anhand der Seriennummer beobachtet. Ich habe schon öfters von diesem Phänomen mit der 9211-8i gelesen, aber keine Lösung dafür gefunden.

Aufgrund dessen, das der SH-Raid am HBA immer abstürzt, habe ich die Hoffnung, dass ich „nur“ das Sata-Port-Mapping korrekt vornehmen muss, damit die HDDs am HBA nicht mehr abstürzen.

 

Folgende Mapping varianten habe ich ausprobiert (und viele mehr, aber nicht notiert):

Alle diese Versuche waren ohne Erfolg. Es hat sich Garnichts in der Slotansicht verändert.

Ich bin mit meinen Ideen und Interpretationsmöglichkeiten am Ende. 

 

Hat jemand von euch eine Idee wie ich die Festplattenreihenfolge wie gewünscht erreiche? Oder wie ich einen Absturz der Festplatten am HBA verhindere?

Anbei schicke ich noch eine Grafik, welche das I/O-Mapping des Chipsatzes C222 zeigt. Möglicherweise hilft die Grafik bei der Wahl der richtigen Mapping-Parameter!?

zum einen ist das in sachen funktion unnötig da 918+ ein default von 16 disks hat, es ist also egal welche ports du an den controllern belegst, es werden immer alle disks sichtbar sein

zum zweiten hat der lsi sas controller (bzw. dessen treiber) die eigenschaft alle disks immer hintereiander zu reihen, egal an welchem der 8 ports sie hängen, lücken werden einfach entfernt, was u.a. dazu führt das beim ausfall einer disk (oder entfernen) die anderen disks dahinter "aufrutsuchen" and sie ihre slot position in der gui wechseln, was du ja eigentlich nicht willst - solange du dafür keine lösung hast ist die ganze idee mit dem anordnen der ports für die füße - meine lösung dafür ist damit zu leben und akribisch SN's and anodnung der plattten (und ports) im gehäuse zu dokumentieren (wenn eine platte "fehlt" und es unodnung in der gui gibt kann man die fehlende SN ermitteln) oder beim controller auf ahci umsteigen, allerdings gibts keinen wirklich guten 8port ahci controller

Ja, sobald ich MaxDisks >= 14 setze sehe ich alle Laufwerke am HBA. 

 

Ich möchte später einmal 8 3,5“ Festplatten in den Einschüben haben. Intern im Gehäuse ist Platz für 2 2,5“ Festplatten. Dort möchte ich einmal 2 SSDs verbauen. Die internen SSDs sollen am MB angeschlossen werden (6 Gb/s). Insgesamt sollen also irgendwann 10 Festplatten verbaut sein.

 

OK, akribisch SN's und Anordnung der Platten zu notieren, damit kann ich leben.

Aber ich kann nicht damit leben das die Festplatten am HBA mindestens einmal am Tag abstürzen. Die Festplatten sind alle neu und können ohne Abstürze am MB betrieben werden.

 

Meint ihr die Abstürze haben nichts mit dem Port-Mapping zu tun? Ansonsten funktioniert der HBA ja einwandfrei, weshalb ich dort eher einen Defekt ausschließen würde.

 

Was heißt denn eigentlich „Ein Laufwerk ist Abgestürzt“? Passiert das bei eine Unterbrechung der SATA Schnittstelle?

der default im 1.04b loader ist 16 da muss man nichts erweitern wenn 6 x sata gefunden wird (obwohl man nur 4 auf dem board hat - habe ich hier bei einem board auch) und man einen 8 port sas controller dazusteckt

(bei 3615/17 schon da ist 12 der default)

ich hätte wohl bis zum schluss lesen sollen

was auch immer das für probleme sind mit dem mapping habe die ziemlich sicher nichts zu tun

das dmesg log hilft hier nicht, das normale log sollte die fehler/probleme zeigen und evtl. auch mal bei samrt/health in der gui reinschauen

ich hatte schon probleme mit seagate platten am lsi (bisher nur hgst) und habe die dann auf die internen ports geklemmt

ansonsten sehen das man netzeil probleme ausschließt (weniger platten im probebetrieb, anderes netzteil) und sehen ob man es an einem der 4er kabel des sas controllers festmachen kann (nur 4 platten an je einem kabel) oder ob man es auch onboard vs lsi controller eingrenzen kann

jeweils 4 platen klingt gut, also 4 am internen sata, danach 4 am 1. sas port und dann 4 am 2. sas port

 

auf jeden fall das log checken !!!

hatte viel zu tun diese Woche, deshalb meine späte Antwort…

 

Ich habe jetzt 2 HDDs an Port 0 und 2 HDDs an Port 1 angeschlossen und pro Port ein Raid erstellt. Beim Erstellen des zweiten Raids hat sich der Speicher-Manager aufgehängt. Nach zwei Versuchen und jeweils 24 Stunden warten habe ich die beiden HDDs mit gparted ext4 formatiert. Danach ging die Erstellung des Raids innerhalb von wenigen Minuten.

 

06.05 – ca. 22:41 Uhr: die Überprüfung des Speicherpools [3] war erfolgreich… Speicherpool [2] lief schon ca. einen Tag ohne Probleme.

07.05 – 07:39:20 Uhr: Ich habe mich in der DS eingeloggt, um mich über den Zustand der Speicherpools zu informieren. Speicherpool [3] war abgestürzt und bei Speicherpool [2] stand irgendwas was von „Systempartitionierungsfehler“ (oder so ähnlich, mittlerweile hat sich der Status geändert, weshalb ich nicht mehr Nachschauen kann)

Laut Protokoll-Center ist der erste Fehler am 07.05 um 07:39:13 aufgetreten, also 7 Sekunden vor dem Login. Hat der Login etwas mit dem Fehler zu tun?

Ich habe dann den Button Reparieren geklickt und den NAS insgesamt zweimal neugestartet und bin zur Arbeit…

 

Abends gegen 18:35 habe ich erneut in den Speicher-Manager geschaut und es war wieder Speicherpool [3] abgestürzt. Mittlerweile ist auch Speicherpool [2] abgestürzt.

 

Anbei sende ich das gewünschte Log-Protokoll. Ich sehe dort nur das alle Festplatten Fehlerhafte Sektoren haben. Diese wurden doch aber zuvor erfolgreich bei der Konsistenzprüfung überprüft, oder? Ich kann mir nicht vorstellen das alle vier Festplatten kaputt sind. Es wäre nett, wenn sich noch mal jemand mit Ahnung mein Log-File anguckt.

 

Ich habe nun noch einmal die Speicherpools repariert und anschließend bei allen Laufwerken ein SMART Schnelltest durgeführt. Die Testergebnisse für alle Festplatten sind Normal. Nun läuft gerade noch ein erweiterter SMART-Test für alle Laufwerke. Falls die Ergebnisse von Normal Abweichen werde ich es euch berichten. Wollt ihr die einzelnen SMART-Attribute sehen?

Der erweiterte SMART-Test hat keine Auffälligkeiten gezeigt.

 

Als ich mich gerade in die DS eingeloggt hatte, wurde mir für die Laufwerke 7, 8, 9 und 10 ein Systempartitionierungsfehler angezeigt. Während ich schaute hat Laufwerk 7 und 8 seinen Status zu Abgestürzt gewechselt...

 

Edit: Ist es nicht auffällig das der Schreibfehler immer im Bereich der Sektoren 116.xxx.xxx und 95.3xx.xxx auftritt? Unabhängig vom Speicherpool. Disk 8 und Disk 10 gehören zu unterschiedlichen Pools!

HI,

die Abstürze von deinen Speicherpool liegen ziemlich sicher am Controller selbst.
Vor meinen jetztigen setup hatte ich auch einen SAS9220 Controller auf IT Mode geflasht und ich hatte damit die gleichen Probleme. Eigentlich ist täglich der Speicherpool abgestürzt.
Ich kann mich nicht komplett mehr daran erninnern, meine aber das FW Version 19 das Problem sei. Eine älter ( ich glaube 15 ) soll wohl wesentlich besser sein.

Mir war aber das Risiko und das gefummel zu hoch und habe mich dann gegen einen SAS Controller entschieden und eine normale 4 Port SATA Karte gekauft. Zusammen mit den 6 onBoard passte dies perfekt.

Würde eher zwei von diesen Karten nutzen, als wieder einen SAS Controller im IT Mode....
