RustyPitchfork Posted December 16, 2014 Share #1 Posted December 16, 2014 So I have an ESXi setup where I am passing the individual drives mapped via RDM and while my drives are being recognized just fine, they are a TON of things not working right. Here are the problems. SMART Status is not accurateSMART Tests will not runDrive does not pass serial numberAll drives show as SSD's even though none of them are I would really like these things so I can stay on top of drive health. Is there something I can do to get this, or am I just out of luck?
Dfds Posted December 16, 2014 Share #2 Posted December 16, 2014 If you're running under ESXi none of these things work or show correctly, it's a known problem & can't be fixed. If they're important to you need to run bare metal. I'd also suggest that you do a bit of reading on the forums to familiarise yourself a bit more with Xpenology. Djey Posted December 17, 2014 Share #3 Posted December 17, 2014 Concerning SMART data not available in ESXi, I was facing the same issue and as none of existing solutions did the trick, I decided to set-up my own SMART workaround. I'm using SMART tools from ESXi directly (not xpenology) to get accurate information. See thread: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4475
