frostiex Posted December 8, 2014 Share #1 Posted December 8, 2014 hi folks. I have another Q here. I have a spare Dell 6430 laptop here So I am wondering what is the possibility of running Xpenology on it with a eSATA JBOD enclosure with it? htpcdude Posted December 8, 2014 Share #2 Posted December 8, 2014 hi folks. I have another Q here. I have a spare Dell 6430 laptop here So I am wondering what is the possibility of running Xpenology on it with a eSATA JBOD enclosure with it? I run mine off of a Dell E6400 laptop. You will find the eSATA of the laptop is not port multiplier friendly. It will only see one drive in an eSATA JBOD enclosure. You can use an eSATA RAID enclosure. I took out my CD-ROM and installed a hard drive SATA bay to have a total of two 2.5" drives in my Xpenology.
frostiex Posted December 8, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted December 8, 2014 thanks for the advice. What about running it off the USB3 ports? apparently it shows all the drive as separate USB disks? Wondering if Xpenology would allow u to raid a bunch of USB drives?
htpcdude Posted December 9, 2014 Share #4 Posted December 9, 2014 I do not think you can use USB drives in raid
