jocacoca Posted April 9, 2020 Share #1 Posted April 9, 2020 Synology assistant cant find my device I am a total noob and first time installing. I would call myself tech savy but pc networks are not my stronger suit so i had to ask here. The config is: Asus J1800-c motherboard and 6GB of RAM and one SATA HDD 500GB I tried with 1.04b for DS918+ and for 3615xs with extra.izma mod from IG-88 And even tried 1.02b for both again with extra.izma. Both UEFI and Legacy boot But Synology asistant cant find my device. I enabled assistant thru firewall. NAS device is conected via ethernet to my router but my main pc is conected via wifi card to the internet. I get the booting screen and everything seems alright but i just cant install DSM. vanst Posted April 10, 2020 Share #2 Posted April 10, 2020 Can you go to your router - DHCP list and see if the MAC & IP of your NAS is show up there? If you find it, you can access to DSM via IP:5000
bearcat Posted April 15, 2020 Share #3 Posted April 15, 2020 @jocacoca Your CPU is to old to be used with 918- (look it up) Try this combo: (with no extra's) Loader: DS3615xs 6.1 Jun's Mod V1.02b DSM: 6.1.4-15217 (add the .pat manually) Report back on the outcome. jocacoca Posted April 15, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted April 15, 2020 The faulty ram stick kept me from booting. So no DS918 for me at all. I want to run jellyfin on docker and hardware transcoding would be nice. I successfully booted DS3615 but haven't tried DS918 is it worth trying or it definitely won't work? bearcat Posted April 16, 2020 Share #6 Posted April 16, 2020 @jocacoca Seems like I was replying, without bringing my brain sorry for the confusion. The J1800 is just like the J1900 based on the "Bay Trail". I installed 918+ on a J1900 board, so it should work on a J1800 as well
jocacoca Posted April 16, 2020 Author Share #7 Posted April 16, 2020 Yea i got confused by your link there since in another post that Jun himself linked in the 1.04b loader thread it said that DS918+ should work on cpus newer then haswell thats what confused me And when i checked Bay Trail was newer then Haswell if i am not mistaken
flyride Posted April 16, 2020 Share #8 Posted April 16, 2020 Bay Trail precedes Haswell, but it's one of those hybrid architectures. The GPU is from Ivy Bridge. I've previously suggested that the processor feature DS918+ is dependent upon is FMA3, which showed up in Haswell, and really isn't anything that we should use in the NAS world, but it seems to be how the kernel is compiled. I'm not sure how Bearcat got a J1900 to work in that case, but here are the architecture comparisons nonetheless. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silvermont https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haswell_(microarchitecture)
