Aigor Posted November 5, 2014 Share #1 Posted November 5, 2014 Hi, why we use DS3612Xs foe our xpenolgy and not RS3614Xs?
LeaderGL Posted November 5, 2014 Share #2 Posted November 5, 2014 In my opinion a good choice could be DS415+. This product is similar to the one custom that we can build (2 ETH, Quad Core CPU, 4 Bay, eSata).

Ok, but we don't "hack" original .pat file so, why don't use another version?
XPEH Posted November 5, 2014 Share #5 Posted November 5, 2014 Original XPEnology bootloader was hacked. Later bootloaders can use the unmodified .pat file. There is probably also for compatibility reasons with wider range of PC hardware. DSM software is the same across the devices and models difference is in the hardware. You building your own hardware and as long as software supports enough devices for your needs, the original donor hardware is irrelevant.
