christians86 Posted January 25, 2020 Share #1 Posted January 25, 2020 Hi, This is my problem: Dell RX720 running Proxmox and I would like to try DSM sin handle my filesharing via smb. However I run into truble with find.synology.com won't show my unit. This is what I have done: 1. Download Jun’s Loader v1.03b DS3615xs 2. Download DSM_DS1817_24922.pat 3. Followed https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/7387-tutorial-dsm-6x-on-proxmox/page/7/ I used bitwise to ssh into proxmox and add jun's, this is my config file: Quote agent: 1 args: -device ich9-usb-ehci1,id=usb,multifunction=on,bus=pci.0,addr=0xa -drive file=/var/lib/vz/images/103/synoboot.raw,format=raw,if=none,id=drive-usb-disk2,cache=writeback -device usb-storage,bus=usb.0,port=2,drive=drive-usb-disk2,id=usb-disk2,bootindex=1,removable=off balloon: 0 bios: ovmf boot: cn bootdisk: synoboot cores: 4 efidisk0: local-lvm:vm-103-disk-1,size=128K ide2: none, media=cdrom memory: 8192 name: DSMnas net0: e1000=DA:97:D0:E2:B8:6D,bridge=vmbr0,firewall=1 numa: 0 ostype: l26 sata0: local-lvm:vm-103-disk-0,size=32G smbios1: uuid=c7a3196b-40f5-4720-a1b3-e65f110c0c4d sockets: 1 vmgenid: 175467e4-082a-4a06-a02f-ca9cfba70378 After reading https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/7387-tutorial-dsm-6x-on-proxmox/page/7/ https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/13117-ds3617xs-dsm62-on-proxmox-52-with-juns-loader-v103b/ I'm just confused since this is quite new for me Quote ,netdev=net0,bus=pci.0,addr=0x12,id=net0 -netdev type=tap,id=net0,ifname=tap103i0 -device e1000e,mac=DA:97:D0:E2:B8:6D -netdev type=tap103,id=net0,ifname=tap103i0 -device e1000e,mac=DA:97:D0:E2:B8:6D,netdev=net0,bus=pci.0,addr=0x12,id=net0 These parts confused the most, if I should have 1 of them or not? One placed I read it as they should be removed, another place said keep. However if I kept proxmox gave me error for duplicate fo net0 Any suggestions for a noob? Download DSM_DS1817_24922.pat where did you read that you can use a different type then the one of the loader? DS1817 is wront, you will have to use "DSM_DS3615xs_24922.pat" when using loader 1.03b for 3615xs also when using 6.2.2 aka 24922 you will have to use a different driver package aka extra.lzma https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/21663-driver-extension-jun-103b104b-for-dsm622-for-3615xs-3617xs-918/ (2nd half about 3615/17) or if you don't want to do this yet you can use loder 1.03b with v23739

However - as described above I never got longer that the boot screen saying go to http to find your synology. So is there anything with my setup (usb, ethernet etc) that is wrong? christians86 Posted January 25, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted January 25, 2020 So...update: I followed this from scratch throwing away everything else above: This is the setup for my VM: after find.synology.com I get the right device, and I click on the DS and agree to EULA, next message is Quote Connection failed. Please check your network settings. If I use synology assistant I manage to set: Password DCHP Upload file DSM_DS3615xs_23739 Error code 38 is given
IG-88 Posted January 25, 2020 Share #5 Posted January 25, 2020 i don't use proxmox, so i cant say much the mac in grub.cfg should be the same as in the vm config whats the scsi controller for? can you connect a virtual com port into the vm? dsm switches to serial output shortly after start, all the interesting stuff can then only be seen with a serial port and a terminal (like putty)
