Guest Posted September 29, 2014 Share #1 Posted September 29, 2014 Ignoring the fact that update 6 seems to have been skipped, has anyone successfully applied v7. Because of the issues with update 5, I'm reluctant to be a guinea pig!
jagwaugh Posted September 29, 2014 Share #2 Posted September 29, 2014 Seems to be ok, see viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4062#p24334
Guest Posted September 29, 2014 Share #3 Posted September 29, 2014 Thanks for the update - has anyone performed the upgrade on a bare metal system (ideally an HP N54L!) as well as a VM?

jagwaugh Posted September 29, 2014 Share #12 Posted September 29, 2014 Works fine on my bare metal (AMD GeForce Mobo), nanoboot from CD.
Djey Posted September 30, 2014 Share #13 Posted September 30, 2014 It went OK after a hard reboot (it was stuck after automatic reboot). Before: 5.0-4493 U3 After: 5.0-4493 U7 Setup: nanoboot on ESXi 5.5 VM - HP N54L
martva Posted September 30, 2014 Share #14 Posted September 30, 2014 Did you have any issues with permissions, loss of volume and disk, like with update 5?
jagwaugh Posted September 30, 2014 Share #15 Posted September 30, 2014 Haven't noticed anything yet. I am running Downloadstation, Virtualboxphp, Serviio, Couchpotato, and various shares (with built in Samba)

Panja Posted September 30, 2014 Share #17 Posted September 30, 2014 Accidently I have installed the update 7 without logging in to SSH first and do the commands: sed 's/flashupdateDeb/flashupdateDeb1/' /autoupd@te.info > /autoupd@te.info1 mv /autoupd@te.info1 /autoupd@te.info But everything seems to be ok... No unmounted volumes, access rights are ok.
weaselchops Posted September 30, 2014 Share #18 Posted September 30, 2014 I just updated from 4 to 7. Using the normal sed update method. I had volume unmount issues, disk temp alerts -1°C ? Also had some permissions go from shares!! The volume and disk issues went away after a power off and an extra reboot. The Permissions, had create by hand again. Seems ok now. HP N54L (bare metal) with nanoboot
MarsManden Posted September 30, 2014 Share #19 Posted September 30, 2014 Same for me - update from 4 to 7. All fine after a few reboots and reapplying user rights. Also HP N54L "bare metal" and NanoBoot 5.0.3.1.
Diverge Posted September 30, 2014 Share #20 Posted September 30, 2014 Accidently I have installed the update 7 without logging in to SSH first and do the commands:sed 's/flashupdateDeb/flashupdateDeb1/' /autoupd@te.info > /autoupd@te.info1 mv /autoupd@te.info1 /autoupd@te.info But everything seems to be ok... No unmounted volumes, access rights are ok. Check what version you have. You're probably still on previous update, since the sed commands trick the updater into going through with the update. dtran Posted October 1, 2014 Share #22 Posted October 1, 2014 I did the same thing also, updated my Xpenology box without the SSH command and my DSM version is also showing up as Update 7. All files and permission are intact. Strange! Another strange thing that I found out is that my real Synology box, a DS110j, does *NOT* show Update 7 when I checked for updates. It's currently at DSM 5.0-4493 Update 5 and according to the status, it is still up-to-date. Maybe the shell shock security issue doesn't affect ARM-based Synology NAS?
