5- Write mv /autoupd@te.info1 /autoupd@te.info and press enter

6- In the GUI Synology panel press update now and wait to come back the Panel Synology

Note: After restart I have 0 HDD´s... I turn OFF the NAS and turn ON. Now its working good and I have all HDD´s

I dont try direct (Update Now) from Panel..

I followed the steps above in order to upgrade to 4493 update 5. It failed sofar.

I have a HP Microserver 56L. Everything looked ok, because the system came back online but then it gave an error. All the disks were unmounted.

But I could access the files by using file station.

I reboted the system because of the unmounted error and the problem became worse. I can't access the disks anymore. I don't see them in my file station.

So I created a task to reboot the system and after that I shutdown the Microserver. It came back online, but still no disks.

I'm at work at the moment, but I'm gonna try a complete shutdown when I'm home. Unplug the power cord and start it up again.

Hopefully that will work.

What bootloader are you using. I'm still on Nanoboot 5.0.2.3 and it is booting 5.0 4493-4.

Just curious what bootloader you are using.

The part in step 1 could be confusing to some people. You need to select the update and upload it and press OK, but DO NOT PRESS UPDATE NOW RIGHT AFTER. Instead run the commands and then press the button.

This had me going for a while.

This step was necessary twice for me, I had a narrow escape there

I have updated to 4493 update 5.

Same problems that I have when I updated to update 4.

Install went well. Everything works. But after a reboot my volume is unmounted.

Reboot again. Volume is back.

But... Web Station is disabled and all of the user accounts in Photo Station are reset e.g. all user accounts do not have permission anymore to view (photo) folders.

Also Spotweb needs to be enabled again. (probably because Web Station was disabled at boot).

See my post about update 4: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3802&start=10#p22962

Here are my observations:

Installed it on VM in Hyper-V

- Installed the update with the 'SED' method.

- 1st reboot, volume is present, hdd not.

- 2st reboot, volume and disk NOT present.

- Shutdown machine, start, volume and disk are present.

Yes, I had exactly the same and it's actually quite scary when you see that your volumes are unmounted...

Fortunately everything seems to be working normally at the moment again.

-downloaded update 5

-stop at Update now

-run script to execute commands

-continue with update

8mins in system available but msg says volumes are outside of operating temps

-reboot (stuck at Starting Services in DSM assistant for a long time)

System up and volumes not visible

-shutdown

-come back tomorrow

....tomorrow

-restart , all volumes visible, permissions screwed

-fix permissions

-Done!

I followed Roodbaard's procedure on my N54L and got the same errors as Alex40 and rimave. Fortunately after two reboots all appears to be OK - apart from screwed folder permissions

- definitely "squeaky bum" time for a while

Applied the update, needed a couple of reboots to find the drives and we're mostly in business. However, I can now neither mount existing, or create new encryted shares. Web interface just states "The operation failed. Login to DSM and try again".

Log file entries below:

Sep 11 20:46:05 DiskStation entry.cgi_SYNO.Core.Share.Crypto[1].decrypt[20106]: enc_writebio_disable.c:68 Failed to modify [/bin/echo 0 > /sys/block/md4/md/writebio]

Sep 11 20:46:14 DiskStation entry.cgi_SYNO.Core.Share.Crypto[1].decrypt[20135]: enc_writebio_disable.c:68 Failed to modify [/bin/echo 0 > /sys/block/md4/md/writebio]

Sep 11 20:46:14 DiskStation entry.cgi_SYNO.Core.Share.Crypto[1].decrypt[20135]: enc_share_mount.c:217 Decryption share failed. Failed to Disabel WriteBio.

It would appear the there is no /sys/block/md4/md/writebio entry to update:

N54L system, latest xpenology: Did the update to Update 5, all went fine.

As expected, no disk, and volume error. Did a reboot twice, power off, power on.

But... no disks and no volume visible. I can access the GUI and shell however.

Any tips what to do now?
