ESXI 6.7 DSM with passthru - which HBA?

Hi Folks, 

 

I'm trying do a ESXI 6.7 with latest DSM build with HBA controller passthru.  I've tried this with an HBA that i currently have, but after a few days, drive errors will show up in DSM.  Wondering if there are any recommended HBA's that folks are currently using in passthru mode under ESXI.

sas9211-8i (and oem's flashed to this) are the most common ones

but you can also use a ahci controller for this

Hi, is it possible to use the built in Sata controller in ahci to conect the hdd to the XPE? And if so you need to update to 6.7 or can be done in 6.5? I read there's problems with the ESXi image on some machines.

I'm passing through my C236 Sunrise Point SATA controller with no issues.  I ran it this way on 6.5 and also now on 6.7.
