wutang200 Posted August 26, 2014 Share #1 Posted August 26, 2014 Guys, I want to make a copy of my USB stick that I'm currently using to boot Xpenology for redundancy purposes. Am I correct is saying I can just plug it into my Windows PC and copy the files over? Is there any sort of config file that's stored on the stick that contains all the settings? I'm using DSM 5.0 beta.
anthonyuk Posted August 26, 2014 Share #2 Posted August 26, 2014 In Windows you can use win32diskimager that you may have used to write the image to also make a copy of the image e.g USB read. You do know that this only contains the boot image and not any of the actual OS though?
wutang200 Posted August 26, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted August 26, 2014 Once I've done the boot image onto another USB, do I then run the Synology Assistant to install the O/S?
anthonyuk Posted August 27, 2014 Share #4 Posted August 27, 2014 It should boot as normal. You can save your DS settings in control panel - Update/restore - configuration backup.
wutang200 Posted September 14, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted September 14, 2014 I don't have any option for Configuration Backup here. It only prompts me to update my DSM version.

wutang200 Posted September 15, 2014 Author Share #7 Posted September 15, 2014 This is what I see. Sorry about the quality. As you can see the Configuration Backup tab is missing completely for me.
XPEH Posted September 15, 2014 Share #8 Posted September 15, 2014 Looks like "beta" version, not final DSM 5. Who don't you update to final?
wutang200 Posted September 16, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted September 16, 2014 I didn't realise I could. What's the procedure to do that?
XPEH Posted September 16, 2014 Share #10 Posted September 16, 2014 It very same procedure as any other version upgrade via migration. Described many times over on this forum.
