Sata raid controller Sil sil3114ctu

Hi everyone,

i have recently upgraded my dsm from 5.2 to 6.1 with DS3615xs 6.1 Jun's Mod V1.02b loader and my raid controller Sil sil3114ctu have stopped working (dsm not recognize hdd's connected to it ). it is any possibility to run it?

!!!all sata_* and pata_* drivers are still not working because of the kernel source changes Synology did (same as in kernel 3.10.102 used and modded by Synology), as long as no one writes a patch for this I can use to fix this, it will stay this way !!!

so no way with 6.1 or 6.2

i'd suggest to get a ahci compatible controller instead Marvell 88SE9215 bases are used often and are not expansive

important is to buy nothing with port multiplier, thats not working in xpenology

there are also two "real" 8 port ahci controllers i know about both use a 4x pcie card with a pcie bridge to host 2x4port (88SE9215) or 4x2port ahci chips

worst thing that i have gigabyte ga-j1900n motherboard and it dont have pci-e slot. it is possible that controller work on mini pcie slot? can i try to buy 4 Port SATA III 6G Mini PCIE Mini PCI-e Marvel 88SE9215 Controller Card SATA 3.0 mini PCI express SSD Adapter Card from aliexpress? link (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32849323827.html)

Yes this should work, I've done the same for xpe testing purposes. Drives might show up in a strange order depending on pci slots and internal controller setup but otherwise ok.

@liniuks I don''t know how your mainboard supports it, but my Asrock Q1900-ITX supported a Sata controller in the Mini-PCIe slot.

as the 9215 is a 4port sata chip it will not have a multiplier, should be ok

always check on the chips and if there is no info hands off

i've already seen a mini-pcie/M.2 card with a 2port chip and multiplier, so its possible to get a bad one when not checking

hi, everyone. 

yesterday my parcel from china arrived. i have got sata controller. put it in my motherboard and bang! it works(p.s. on gigabyte motherboard first i have to remove original card fix screw, becouse pcie card is bigger). dsm 6.1 see 4 connected hdd's. thank you all for help.

@liniuks Cool  Is that the card from AliExpress you linked to? 

What size is your cabinett? Seems like that card would not fit inside a Mini-ITX cabinet.

yes, it is from aliexpress. my motherboard ga-j1900n has a half size mini pci express slot cabinet. i have to modify it.
