Jamzor Posted October 9, 2019 Share #1 Posted October 9, 2019 (edited) Hi, Im running DSM 6.2.2-24922 Update 3 on a DS3617xs with a genuine serial and genuine mac. I get file/path not availible when I try cat /usr/syno/etc/codec/activation.conf to see if its activated for hardware transcoding etc.. When I try to CD manually to the file I notice in /etc there is no "codec" folder even. I have tried reinstalling DSM and factory resetting it totally several times. Something to note is that when I reinstall it in the installation wizard it tells me that it cant contact synology servers when I reach the quickconnect window. Dont know if this is normal? Im not trying to initiate quick connect obviously but I cant even hit the "skip this step". It just gives me the error message and moves on to next step. Maybe this is where the activation file is created with synology servers? Also Im running the DSM in a ESXi VM. I did not change anything in DSM in the reinstallation process as I dont think its needed? What you guys think..? Jamzor Posted October 9, 2019 Author Share #2 Posted October 9, 2019 (edited) I finally got it! I started video station on a 1080p movie and then choose to lower quality to medium, forcing transcoding. Then it created the activation file. And its success. However I cant play a 4k video because it tells me it cant play the DTS-HD. Please try another option.. Anyone know what the problem is ? Could it be because my CPU is old? Its a E5-2690 v2 I found a post about FFmpeg package from synocommunity. Got it running but still not playing DTS. Tried rebooting also..
