TBK Posted March 2, 2016 Share #327 Posted March 2, 2016 From what I can get out of Googles translation of http://www.synology-forum.de/showthread.html?62631-VirtualBox-auf-der-DS&p=602357&viewfull=1#post602357, then DI4bI0 is aware of the bridge issue and got a fix that will be included in the next version - http://spk.diablos-netzwerk.de/?lang=en#showhistory_virtualbox
roysv Posted March 6, 2016 Share #328 Posted March 6, 2016 Same problem here. I have 2 VM, 1 windows 7 and 1 unbuntu, in bridged mode with different ports for each VM. If i launch a second VM when the first is running phpvirtualbox stop responding, the VM stop at 20% and after, same if i try to stop the packet virtualbox not responding and same if i try to shutdown the xpenology server not responding. Only hard shutdown work after this. I experienced this too, but after I downgraded the bootloader to XPEnoboot DS3615xs 5.2-5592.2 Virtualbox are working like a charm. I'm running latest version of DSM, DSM_5.2-5644 Update-5. rs
Kekskruemel Posted March 7, 2016 Share #329 Posted March 7, 2016 Same for all people with network problems, bridged network doesn't work, ... Simply use xpenology Bootloader 5.2-5592.2 and all is working fine. So something breaks virtualbox on the network side after this version. carts Posted March 12, 2016 Share #330 Posted March 12, 2016 fyi: Diablos latest package 5.0.14-105127-5 works perfect bridging multiple VM's on the latest XPEnoboot 5.2-5644.5 bootloader. Cheers
_ReaL_ Posted March 12, 2016 Share #331 Posted March 12, 2016 The latest version 5.0.16-105871-1 does not work with XPEnoboot 5.2-5644.5 bootloader, but works well with XPEnoboot 5.2-5592.2 bootloader. NAT mode works well , what failure is bridged adapter. _ReaL_
Wozek88 Posted March 13, 2016 Share #332 Posted March 13, 2016 How to get link for Virtualbox 5.0.16?
TBK Posted March 13, 2016 Share #333 Posted March 13, 2016 You can't since DI4bI0 has not released a spk for version 5.0.16-105871 - http://spk.diablos-netzwerk.de/#hidehistory_virtualbox If you need it now, then you can try to modify the installer.sh and change: From: VIRTUALBOX_VER="5.0.14" VIRTUALBOX_BUILD="105127" To: VIRTUALBOX_VER="5.0.16" VIRTUALBOX_BUILD="105871" The install script will then download the latest package from virtualbox.org during the setup. DISCLAIMER it might not work, the kernel module files might be version specific.

Cheers I can confirm that the -5 version has fixed the bridging issues I was seeing as well with the latest bootloader. Nice to be able to run the latest everything again without having to resort to any sort of workaround.

TBK Posted March 14, 2016 Share #342 Posted March 14, 2016 Toolchain for DSM6 beta 2 is out. Can we expect Virtualbox soon to run on DSM6 perhaps? No real reason for VirtualBox when Synology is providing a QEMU/KVM alternative for DSM 6 called "Virtual DSM Manager". Here is the description: Virtual DSM Manager allows you to create and run multiple virtual machines on your Synology NAS. With Virtual DSM, you can allocate hardware resources more flexibly, build a virtualization environment, and migrate your virtual machines among hosts without disruption. TBK Posted March 14, 2016 Share #343 Posted March 14, 2016 Is there a way for offline install this package ? latest package 5.0.14-105127-5 I mean a downloadlink with the complete package Thank you Yes it is possible, alter the installer.sh file (http://127.0.0.1/blablabla-file-blabla.tar.gz), download the files it is referencing to and host them on the NAS itself (put them in the web server root). bouvrie Posted April 1, 2016 Share #348 Posted April 1, 2016 No real reason for VirtualBox when Synology is providing a QEMU/KVM alternative for DSM 6 called "Virtual DSM Manager". Problem with Virtual DSM Manager, is that it only allows visualization of Synology's own DSM OS, hence the name Virtual DSM. VirtualBox should have more OS'es to choose from. TBK Posted April 1, 2016 Share #349 Posted April 1, 2016 No real reason for VirtualBox when Synology is providing a QEMU/KVM alternative for DSM 6 called "Virtual DSM Manager". Problem with Virtual DSM Manager, is that it only allows visualization of Synology's own DSM OS, hence the name Virtual DSM. VirtualBox should have more OS'es to choose from. Did not know that Synology had put a restriction on Virtual DSM Manager. Have you tried to use the command line tools to create a VM? It might be that the restriction is only in the UI code. http://www.thegeekstuff.com/2014/10/lin ... -guest-vm/ http://blog.muhuk.com/2010/07/07/how-to ... -qemu.html Btw, I'm running a DS1515+ with DSM 6.0-7321, and sadly still getting "your kernel 3.10.77 is not supported" as 5.0.10-104061-1 is the latest version shown in my repo. Any chance of v5.0.16-105871-3 also showing up? Would be cool to take VirtualBox for a spin! Just install the latest version manually.
