stubs Posted July 15, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 15, 2014 Sorry if this has been asked already, but I was wondering if anyone had managed to port QNAP accross to alternative hardware, in the same way that has been done for Synology?
lietz71 Posted July 16, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 16, 2014 I'm also very interested in a QNAP port, especially because the new series (TS-251 --> TS-851) are all equipped with a celeron J1800. But so far I didn't found anything about it.
yabba235 Posted July 16, 2014 Share #3 Posted July 16, 2014 As SYNOLOGY QNAP also had its own version to another hardware called QNOLOGY but from what I know the project is no longer maintained - indeed QNAP system is nothing better than DSM I know this from experience because I had a TS-212 with 4.0 qts and I lost all the data when reinstalling the system - something unthinkable in the DSM. lietz71 Posted July 16, 2014 Share #4 Posted July 16, 2014 as far as I know the QNOLOGY project managed to run the Synology DSM on QNAP hardware. (http://hackaday.soup.io/post/228255931/NAS-firmware-hack-Synology-running-on-QNAP)
yabba235 Posted July 16, 2014 Share #5 Posted July 16, 2014 Ahh., sorry you right My mistake ! BTW: QTS it is no better than DSM ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
lietz71 Posted July 17, 2014 Share #6 Posted July 17, 2014 I agree with you, DSM looks better. Right now I'm using nanoboot 5.0.3.1 with DSM_DS3612xs_4493 and my system got a poor write performance. So, it would be interesting to see whether a QNAP clone runs even better.
