Is there a way to use DSM locally using KVM?

Question

I have an HP Mediasmart EX490 running DSM 6.2.  I have installed an RGB video cable in the EX490 so that I can get access to the BIOS.   Is there some way that I can use the video display on the EX490 along with a usb keyboard and mouse to directly access the DSM interface without having to use a network connection?

Thanks.

If you'll install host system with gui and then install xpen in vm you can do it.

Yes that is possible but technically I think you still need to use a network even if both OSes are installed in the same machine. DSM will not allow access to its GUI other than through a network connection, therefore some sort of router is needed (either virtual or physical). Please correct me if I am wrong.

It works with NAT or host only settings for guest system.

P.S. And without netvork connection of the host computer.

Interesting. I tried that but didn't work for me. I might have been doing something wrong then.

This trick is probably not interesting to ordinary users, but is very useful for debugging and testing before running, for example, as a site for home using.
