cboy Posted July 10, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 10, 2014 Air Video can stream videos in almost any format to your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. You don't need to copy your videos to the device just to watch them. It works extremely well. http://www.inmethod.com I want to see it it will work on the xpenology build. I'm not even sure it's possible. I have used it for several years now on my WHSv1 and have recently built a nice new nas. I'm going to miss being able to stream mkvs to my ipad/iPhone. I did some research and found someone has releases Jar files of the server but after that I'm lost as to what to do with them. (Or if it would work at all) Here is a link to the jar files if anyone wants to try it out? Or just tell me flat out it won't work so I can try to find something else http://www.inmethod.com/forum/posts/list/1856.page

Dfds Posted July 15, 2014 Share #9 Posted July 15, 2014 The iOS App Store reviews. I'll test it out. I assume it works over the Internet too? It's a free app you have nothing to loose by trying it, if you don't like it use something else like plex. Yes it will work over the internet assuming you have made the necessary changes in DSM & opened the relevant firewall ports. You will probably want to use a DNS service too unless you have a static IP.
anthonyuk Posted July 15, 2014 Share #10 Posted July 15, 2014 IMHO Plex is the best app for streaming. The N54l is just about powerful enough for transcoding.
cboy Posted July 23, 2014 Author Share #11 Posted July 23, 2014 so apparently the most recent version of Video station has no DTS support which is like 99% of my movies. Going to look at Plex now. I really wish air video worked (its just what i used before)
