rl77 Posted July 7, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 7, 2014 (edited) Hi All, This is my first topic post - I have been reading this forum and, following the excellent instructions, got running DSM 5 4458 on the Giada N70E-R celeron 1037u system - thanks for all the help! I have run into an issue I cannot figure out, however. I am trying to upgrade to 4482 - using nanoboot - but for some reason, I get a black screen after the initial boot interface (ie fails to load nanoboot) - trying several versions of Nanoboot from 5.2.2.2 to 5.0.3.1. All have the same issue. I tried disabling 1 of the 2 NICs and disabling various other options in the bios - nothing fixes it. I am running 1 3 tb WD red Nas drive. Thanks for any help/suggestions you can provide. rl77 Posted July 8, 2014 Author Share #2 Posted July 8, 2014 It seems like no one knows the answer - so I am sticking with 4458 for now. I think it is good enough for my needs, but when I added disks earlier, it slowed down on load considerably...hope that doesn't happen again this time :\ Here are my observations - feel free to correct my understanding, thanks. 1: Nanoboot seems a little unstable compared to gnoboot at this point. I am unsure if sancome is still actively developing as he hasn't responded to comments on his site for a time. I sent him a message - will see if he replies. 2: Gnoboot seems to be completely inactive - too bad as it seems more stable. Anybody know if the author is waiting for next major dsm release or has given up on the project? 3. I looked at ESXi as an option as well, but feel bare metal is a better fit for me at this point in time.
