Plex app problems

Recommended Posts

Has been working perfectly for a long time... today, just stopped.

So I'm running DSM 4.2 -3211 on a HP Microserver

Plex is in a stopped status, if I attempt to start: "Failed to run the package service"

If I attempt to Uninstall: "The Package has been successfully uninstalled" and then reappears instantly on my list.

Can anyone help?

Did you try reinstalling the plex spk you were running? I've updated from 9.9.7 to 9.9.12 over the last few months by manually installing the new version from the packages app. I also reinstalled 9.9.8 this way on a DSM 5.0 beta test station using a backup internal disk from my DSM 4.3 rig (set up to test the DSM upgrade with plex and transmission software). With the manual install, once the package is loaded (from where I downloaded it) to the NAS, it shows "Upgrade" rather than "install" on the final "click OK to proceed" page.

  • 2 weeks later...

Package was installed from the package centre.

I have the update option now but this still fails. So as it stands, I cannot Run, uninstall or Update.

Any anyone assist with manually removing this?

Many thanks

Have you taken a look at the Plex log file?

I got a similar error from SABNZBD, SickBeard and Couchpotato whilst playing around with permissions for Couchpotato renaming...

However I suspect that my issue is caused by my lack of reboot (i'm in the middle of an SHR expansion at the moment)

If you look at post #9 you'll see instructions for deleting just the 'Plex' shared folder. You probably don't want to delete the whole volume, but if you do...

!!!!THIS WILL DELETE THE VOLUME AND ALL THE DATA ON IT!!!!

Go to Storage Manager, click on Volume, select the volume and click Remove.

You'll then need to create a new volume.

Cheers, yeah best not deleting the Volume  Followed the instructions:

login as: root

root@192.168.1.7's password:

BusyBox v1.16.1 (2013-04-16 20:10:08 CST) built-in shell (ash)

Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

DiskStation> cd /

DiskStation> cd volume1

DiskStation> rm -r Plex

rm: can't remove 'Plex': No such file or directory

DiskStation> DiskStation> rm -r Plex

-ash: DiskStation: not found

DiskStation> rm: can't remove 'Plex': No such file or directory
