Loader reversal

Hey guys, 

dont know if this is the correct section of the forums, but here we go;

i upgraded from 6.1.7 to 6.2, i also went from 3615 to 3617. I’ve now realized some packages I used aren’t compatible with 3617 hardware, is it possible to switch my loader to 3615?

You can try another boot stick with 1.03b for the 3615. But with packages you mean Apps installed in DSM? Then you’ll have to migrate DSM to the appropriate Pat for the 3615.

Exactly, packages, giving me error messages about not compatible with hardware, I’ve found out it’s because of the use of 3617. So just create a new USB for 1.03b/3615 and load the same 6.2 pat file for 3615? I thought perhaps it wouldn’t let me install unless I use a newer version, such as 6.2.1 but I can’t do that as my nic is Realtek based.

Well i has work just flashing a usb with 3615 loader.. i feel like 3617 ran more efficient based on cpu/mem usage vs 3615...

I highly suggest you go back to DS3615xs. The DS3617xs version ends up eventually with some shared libraries having some invalid ELF header. It's not a drama as it is possible to fix this rather easily but why putting yourself in that situation in the first place.

Thanks for the help, I did end up going back to 3615 flawlessly. So now I’m at 6.2 U2, is it worth dropping a intel nic and moving up to 6.2.2?

I don’t think so. If you don’t know why you need to update then it clearly means you don’t need it.
I am still on DSM 6.1.7.
