Raghav_K Posted April 15, 2014 Share #1 Posted April 15, 2014 hello guys, this is my first post here, and hope you guys could help me. i'm running the latest dsm 5.0 with gnoboot's latest alpha, on a biostar amd e350 based fusion board setup. everything works fine, except gigabit ethernet. the ethernet speed is 100mbps and not gigabit/1000mbps. The motherboard onboard lan is rtl8111f ethernet. dmesg | grep 'Ethernet driver' [ 5.429584] 8139cp: 8139cp: 10/100 PCI Ethernet driver v1.3 (Mar 22, 2004) [ 5.444419] 8139too: 8139too Fast Ethernet driver 0.9.28 [ 5.461712] r8168 Gigabit Ethernet driver 8.037.00-NAPI loaded [ 5.716187] Brocade 10G Ethernet driver - version: 3.0.2.2 ethtool eth0 Supported ports: [ TP ] Supported link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full 100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full 1000baseT/Full Supports auto-negotiation: Yes Advertised link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full 100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full 1000baseT/Full Advertised auto-negotiation: Yes Speed: 100Mb/s Duplex: Full Port: Twisted Pair PHYAD: 0 Transceiver: internal Auto-negotiation: on Supports Wake-on: pumbg Wake-on: d Current message level: 0x00000033 (51) Link detected: yes i think the newer r8169 driver supports Gigabit ethernet on the RTL8111F chip, but i do not know how to load r8169 instead of r8168. any suggestions would be much appreciated Thanks

stanza Posted April 17, 2014 Share #8 Posted April 17, 2014 If your having troubles getting gigabit working.... Try a different cable. 9 times out of ten... Auto detect will down negotiate to 100m if it detects a problem. .
