Use same Serial Number on 2 devices

Hello I have a question about serial numbers: 
 
The context is as follows I have in my possession DS218Play, 
 

I'm building an Xpenology under J5005, I would like to use transcoding, I saw that since DSM 6.2 I needed a valid serial number,

Will using the serial number of my DS218Play on Xpenology and continuing to use both will cause a conflict in applications or transcoding?    (loader 918+ if possible)?

@sprucegoose any progress on your testing? 

I *think* the 218Play serial might not work on a "918+" and there is also the MAC adress to consider.

honestly I used a original serial of a ds918+ with different Macs ona an Xpenology with asrock j4105-itx and everything works great. I use it only with DsVideo and nothing else.
