davurleon Posted March 22, 2014 Share #1 Posted March 22, 2014 I don't know if this has already been answered, I think I have searched wide and far, but maybe not enough, if that is the case I am sorry... I have a HP Microserver N36L However, I have Xpenology installed 5.4458 and with Gnoboot. (otherwise no modifications, I started out with the trantor 3810 and upgraded to 5beta and then to 4458) When I look in my router it says I have 1Gbit speed, so does the Xpenology in it's settings, but I max out at 11-12 Mbytes copy speed in my network (which is somewhat a maxed out 100Mbit connection I guess) Anyone have a clue as to how I can get 1Gbit speed on my unit? (All of my network is 1Gbit, all switches, router, etc.)
gnoboot Posted March 23, 2014 Share #2 Posted March 23, 2014 Are you using built-in network card? What type of service (i.e. CIFS, NFS, iSCSI) are you using? Can you give me your `dmesg` and `lspci -vvv` output?
davurleon Posted March 23, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted March 23, 2014 Hi Gnoboot, thanks for answering! I am only running CIFS, mostly large files. I have 2 NICs, the built in one and some other I bought, however both seem to have an identical chip from broadcom. About the other 2 things, I a am total newbie to this, I just really like the Synology system, so I really don't know what to do in order to give you the 2 outputs, I have tried to install Shellinabox and get something there, but don't know how to export it so I can send it to you. Sorry...
gnoboot Posted March 23, 2014 Share #4 Posted March 23, 2014 Edit GRUB before you boot to your NAS, you can do this by pressing E at the 2nd boot menu under kernel line. Make the following changes: kernel /zImage debug Once it booted up, you can send me /.gnoboot/debug.log.
davurleon Posted March 23, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted March 23, 2014 I did as you said I should, I hope, does this file help you in any way? Should I use 10.4 instead of 10.3, will that help maybe? gnoboot Posted March 24, 2014 Share #6 Posted March 24, 2014 yeah, try the latest release. I doubt it would fix your network problem. I have another command that I'd like you try and post the results. Have you also tried changing the cables or restart the switch? > ethtool eth0
davurleon Posted March 24, 2014 Author Share #7 Posted March 24, 2014 It says it is running 1Gbit, but I don't know how to export what it says. I'll just stick with 10.3 if you say it is ok
systemic Posted May 19, 2014 Share #8 Posted May 19, 2014 Hello davurleon Did you had a chance to find a solution for your issue with network speed ? I'm in the exact same situation with Nanoboot on ESXI with DSM 5.0. I've tried many things including changing from e1000 eto vmxnet3 in Esxi with no success... Thanks to share if you've solved it
