chris1284 Posted October 25, 2018 Share #1 Posted October 25, 2018 (edited) Hi, i try to install a ds918+ dsm62 on a debian server (hp microserver gen8) as virtual machine, headless via command line. in vnc i can see that the vm starts from a virtual usb stick with this loader https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/12952-dsm-62-loader/ to the "intro" with "happy hacking". The synology assist can't find the virtual dsm on network. With the same vm but boot from old XPEnoboot_DS3615xs_5.2-5644.5.iso the assist can find the dsm (but there are problems while installing the pat file "writing configuration" becouse of connection loss). Any idea? thank in advance, Chris this is the vm xml-config EDIT: ok, i have tested the V103b DSM31617 loader and the assist can see the dsm. we will see if the installation works fine EDIT2: this loader got an connection loss on point 1 save netzworksettings <domain type='kvm'> <name>virtDSM</name> <uuid>e41e7de7-c91a-493b-8a63-9e59b94bd015</uuid> <memory unit='KiB'>2097152</memory> <currentMemory unit='KiB'>2097152</currentMemory> <vcpu placement='static'>2</vcpu> <os> <type arch='x86_64' machine='pc-i440fx-2.8'>hvm</type> </os> <features> <acpi/> <apic/> </features> <cpu mode='custom' match='exact'> <model fallback='allow'>Nehalem</model> <vendor>Intel</vendor> </cpu> <clock offset='utc'> <timer name='rtc' tickpolicy='catchup'/> <timer name='pit' tickpolicy='delay'/> <timer name='hpet' present='no'/> </clock> <on_poweroff>destroy</on_poweroff> <on_reboot>restart</on_reboot> <on_crash>restart</on_crash> <pm> <suspend-to-mem enabled='no'/> <suspend-to-disk enabled='no'/> </pm> <devices> <emulator>/usr/bin/kvm</emulator> <disk type='file' device='disk'> <driver name='qemu' type='qcow2'/> <source file='/pool0/vms/dsm/virtDSM'/> <target dev='sda' bus='sata'/> <boot order='2'/> <address type='drive' controller='1' bus='0' target='0' unit='0'/> </disk> <disk type='file' device='disk'> <driver name='qemu' type='raw'/> <source file='/pool0/vms/dsm/ds918_62-621_loader.img'/> <target dev='sdb' bus='usb'/> <boot order='1'/> <address type='usb' bus='0' port='1'/> </disk> <controller type='usb' index='0' model='ich9-ehci1'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x04' function='0x7'/> </controller> <controller type='usb' index='0' model='ich9-uhci1'> <master startport='0'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x04' function='0x0' multifunction='on'/> </controller> <controller type='usb' index='0' model='ich9-uhci2'> <master startport='2'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x04' function='0x1'/> </controller> <controller type='usb' index='0' model='ich9-uhci3'> <master startport='4'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x04' function='0x2'/> </controller> <controller type='pci' index='0' model='pci-root'/> <controller type='ide' index='0'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x01' function='0x1'/> </controller> <controller type='sata' index='0'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x06' function='0x0'/> </controller> <controller type='sata' index='1'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x07' function='0x0'/> </controller> <interface type='direct'> <mac address='00:11:32:2c:a7:85'/> <source dev='eno1' mode='bridge'/> <model type='e1000'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x03' function='0x0'/> </interface> <serial type='pty'> <target port='0'/> </serial> <console type='pty'> <target type='serial' port='0'/> </console> <input type='mouse' bus='ps2'/> <input type='keyboard' bus='ps2'/> <graphics type='vnc' port='-1' autoport='yes'> <listen type='address'/> </graphics> <video> <model type='cirrus' vram='16384' heads='1' primary='yes'/> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x02' function='0x0'/> </video> <memballoon model='virtio'> <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x05' function='0x0'/> </memballoon> </devices> </domain> Edited October 25, 2018 by chris1284

hemna Posted April 30, 2020 Share #6 Posted April 30, 2020 I have tried to get this to work as well. I get the initial boot message saying the screen won't update and to check http://find.synology.com/, and then nothing
