bearcat Posted January 13, 2019 Share #77 Posted January 13, 2019 @XbladeX 1 - What hardware are you currently using? 2 - What bootloader are you using? 3 - What is your Synology "base" (3615/3617/...)? 4 - Has it been working before? 5 - Did it stop working after an update from 6.1.7 to 6.2.1? 6 - Are you using any "extra.lzma"? 7 - Have you at any time been using any other types of bootloaders? (nanoboot/xpenoboot/...) @sebelec nr. 7 applies to you as well.

bearcat Posted January 13, 2019 Share #79 Posted January 13, 2019 @XbladeX From earlier experience with a problem like that: try these steps: Activate the SSH service in DSM (if not active) Connect to your NAS with an SSH client (e.g. putty) (or from Win 10, open a cmd window, run : ssh admin@my.nas.ip (replace with the actual IP) Enter your credentials (user: admin) Change folder to root (cd /) Delete the xpenoboot folder (sudo rm -r .xpenoboot) If the SSH service keeps stopping, you have to be quick. 2

thearc Posted January 14, 2019 Share #82 Posted January 14, 2019 Hey everybody, i have an N54L with Boardcom NIC and working DMS 6.2 U2. Now I want to upgrade to 6.2.1. When I am installing the HP NC360T an disable internal NIC do I have to change the (working) grub.cfg? At the moment I am using a fake NIC. Thank you! bearcat Posted January 14, 2019 Share #83 Posted January 14, 2019 @thearc Actually, you don't have to change it, the current "MAC1=aabb..." setting will be used for eth0 on your new nic. Unless your "face" MAC conflicts with your eth1 on the new nic, you should be ok.

I did an update with the Webinterface. It works like charm with 6.2.1 U4 Edited January 16, 2019 by bab86
XPEH Posted January 22, 2019 Share #85 Posted January 22, 2019 I have two HP N54Ls working with DSM 6.2.1U4 (Jun 1.03B DS1615xs ). Intel 1Gb adapters (dual port). ACPI is left on ver. 1.4, Builtin NIC disabled. Power down, WOL, restart, all work correctly.
williammar Posted January 25, 2019 Share #86 Posted January 25, 2019 Dear All, I am new in here and just start to learn how to build my N54L with Xpenology. What shall I start? 1. How to create my USB bootloader 1.4 or 1.3b? 2. which version shall use DS3617xs or DS918? if I have HP NC360T dual port card?
XPEH Posted January 25, 2019 Share #87 Posted January 25, 2019 Bootloader 1.4 ds918+ will not work with this server. Your best bet is with 1.3b ds3615xs. update bios, disable c1 state. after installation additional package for power button is needed, but you are not there yet. Der_Sparsame Posted February 9, 2019 Share #94 Posted February 9, 2019 (edited) I tried to replace onboard NIC with an used NC360T. But this card wont work, LED still green without connected cable. With cable - no connection. Checked over SSH - not working. Seems to be brocken. BUT NOW I FOUND a older card in my stock wich isn't labeled but I checked via SSH that it is a REALTEK r8168. Will this card work under 6.2.1 U4 ??? Thanks UNSOLVED: Realtek is not supported under 6.2.1 Tried to update with a spare SSD (Before that I removed my HDDs) and did not work. Now I insert my HDD back to NAS and still not working with onboard NIC (installed version is 6.2.U2) Edited February 9, 2019 by Der_Sparsame Solved

bearcat Posted February 9, 2019 Share #99 Posted February 9, 2019 @Olegin : 1.04b / 918 won't work on the HP N54L Microserver G7, and he already tried an Intel NIC (but I'm guessing it was broken..)
