Defining a bridge between two network interfaces using brctl

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I would like to use my system to connect to the wan/lan via wifi and connect other devices at the ethernet ports without subnet. Therefore, I would like to define a bridge.

I try to follow roughly this discussion:

https://www.synology-forum.de/showthread.html?76597-DS-als-Switch-nutzen-bei-DSM-6-0-Bridge-zwischen-eth0-und-eth1

However, I have problems with the brctl command:

root@Syno-N40L:~# /sbin/modprobe /usr/lib/modules/stp.ko
root@Syno-N40L:~# /sbin/modprobe /usr/lib/modules/bridge.ko
root@Syno-N40L:~# /bin/brctl addbr br0
add bridge failed: Package not installed
root@Syno-N40L:~# insmod /lib/modules/bridge.ko
insmod: ERROR: could not insert module /lib/modules/bridge.ko: Unknown symbol in module
root@Syno-N40L:~# brctl addbr br0
add bridge failed: Package not installed

The wifi USB stick is already inserted and working. I am running DSM 6.2 update 2 on a N40L.

So I am not so sure, if this is a problem of the Diskstation software or rather XPEnology specific?

Can anybody please give me a hint?

Kind regards, Tomte
