Intel J5005 Cpu Speedstep not working

Brodelpiet

Question

Hello,

i built a NAS with the Asrock J5005-ITX Board. Its SoC is officially supporting a max frequency of 2800 MHz but the DSM System seems to never use this turbo frequency.

Even if I stress out the CPU, the command "dmidecode -t processor | grep Speed" gives me the following result:

Max Speed: 2700 MHz

Current Speed: 1500 MHz

scaling_max_freq and cpuinfo_max_freq in /sys/devices/system/cpu/... is also both 1501000.

How can I get this to work?

I'm on DSM 6.1.7 with the DS916+ Model.

PS: Antworten auf Deutsch sind mir auch Recht. :)

For the test, run a geekbench benchmark in docker and compare with a result of your CPU : ( https://hub.docker.com/r/davidsarkany/geekbench )

The J3455 chart > http://browser.geekbench.com/processors/1874

My own test on the NAS > https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/14187196

So no doubt, the burst frequencies are ok.

despite of this sudo dmidecode -t processor | grep Speed still show a Current Speed: 1500 MHz

Apparently it's not a Turbo frequency - but a 'burst' frequency.

It's not the same thing - so don't expect it to work like your desktop CPU..

I would like more clarity on WHEN it was meant to kick in though..

I've looking for updated BIOS for my board (J3455-ITX) but the FTP site is down..
