Disk migration Synology -> XPEnology

Hello, I run 4 disk in a 212/213 extension combo from Synology and would like to migrate the disk into a HP N54L. Therefore a few questions:

Do I install DSM on the N54L prior to bringing the 4 disks across? And if yes, where do I install DSM?

I believe DSM is installed on your drives. If you add more drives the DSM is also stored on those drives in order to mitigate drive failure.

@trek102 DSM is installed on all HHD's so you should be able to just move them into to N54L, however as the model will be different you should get the option to migrate. Things to check before doing this, what version of DSM is currently installed on your 212/213 as you will need to match the loader accordingly. The loaders can be found here: 

 

Don.t forget to disable C1E support in the bios & set the correct vid & pid of the USB stick& as always backup any important data before proceeding. I would also advise checking out the FAQ's.
