@Olegin Great cleared. So I will proceed to buy the suggested product with Intel Chipset. Is there any list with supported NIC'S?

@Olegin @Dfds Hi Both. I've managed to upgrade the NIC to Intel Chipset card. Now after upgrading to the latest DSM I can ping the hard but I'm not able to launch the Webapp from the Browser. Any idea?

Hello sorry if my question is quite noob or it is not the place.

I've been using dsm now for a couple of years and I keep sacling up my main server and i think i got stucked in default limits specified by kernel.

I moved from an i7 ES to a TR1950X but kernel is limited by default to 8 cores, Is there a way I can get more? I know is related with a parameter in kernel before compiling but I was not able to boot when I tried to compile a zImage.

I am running 918+ loader and DSM 6.2.2-24922

Thank you for the help.

Hi Guys,
is there any Chance to get a MBR-Version of the 918+ Loader V1.04..

i tried so much to convert these Loaders (also 1.03b) but without success..

Cause my Supermicro X7DBP-i won't boot from GPT..

or any hints would be also helpful..

Thanks a lot..

Why not just use the DS3615XS 1.03b loader?

Legacy boot and MBR are two different things....

MBR (master boot record) is a partition type, and should only be required if you are using really old hardware that cannot support a GPT partition.

Legacy boot is the BIOS boot model prior to the current UEFI implementation.

after trying a lot, (also this https://www.rodsbooks.com/gdisk/hybrid.html)  i found a "phenomen" with my Bootsticks...

also GPT formated USB-Drives are booting, but just to the point, where after the bootmenu is displayed, the "info.txt. is shown and then it stopped booting

no Kernel booting message ….

now i'm not shure if my Hardware supports booting from GPT formatted drives….

the search goes on..

any hints ? some suggestions ?

Normal or better put, expected. For whatever reason when booting in legacy mode, the "Booting the kernel" message does not appear. It doesn't mean it's not booting.

If you booted the USB drive in EFI mode then you will see the same text without the last 3 lines but that's ok.

I'm running ESXI 6.7 together with the 1.04b loader for DS918+.

I wasn't able to boot with UEFI, but legacy mode wen't perfectly fine (It found my existing storage pool and migrated it).

The only issue i found is that DSM detects my bootloader disk and complains because it can't read it's data.

I only use the drive as bootloader, and have a satacontroller in passtrough where my disks are installed.

Are there any solutions to this?

Now obviously i can't remove the disk in esxi, but is it possible to have DSM ignore it somehow?

Make sure you select "ESXi" from the boot loader option menu

Are you certain that's it?

In the grub file I commented all the baremetal versions out (No other changes besides S/N and mac).

#menuentry "DS918+ 6.2.1/6.2 Baremetal $VERSION" --class os {
#        set img=
#        savedefault
#        loadlinux 918 usb
#        loadinitrd
#        showtips
#}
#
#menuentry "DS918+ 6.2.1/6.2 Baremetal $VERSION Reinstall" --class os {
#        set img=
#        loadlinux 918 usb mfg
#        loadinitrd
#        showtips
#}

menuentry "DS918+ 6.2.1/6.2 VMWare/ESXI $VERSION" --class os {
        set img=
        savedefault
        loadlinux 918 sata
        loadinitrd
        showtips
}

Also this is how my boot looks:
